Stonehenge
Among thousands of stone constructions that were made by our ancestors, Stonehenge is of a great importance. It is a mystery for the world till nowadays. Huge stones (some of them are of 45 tones), mystical shape (they are similar to fangs), and its mystical precedence turn Stonehenge not only into the symbol of unknown ancient power but also into constant object of investigation of our scientists.
Stonehenge is one of the most mystical places in the world. Who created it and why – are the questions that were not answered till nowadays. At first this construction was of 30 stones located in the form of circle and that were connected with the help of straight arches. Nowadays only some of these stones left but still this contraction is full of mysteries and unknown facts.
According to scientists people began to build Stonehenge 4000 years ago and finished the construction only after several hundreds of years. According to the first and the most spread theory Druids put these stones there to organise ritual ceremonies during winter and summer solstice. But Celts came to this island just before appearance of Christianity, when Stonehenge was already built.
The author of another theory says that Druids have nothing to do with constructing of Stonehenge. According to this theory Stonehenge was built by people of Mycenae to protect from atlantes. But this theory is false too because there is a great distance between every stone and this construction is unable to protect people.
The legends of England give us also some explanations about the appearance of Stonehenge. According to the legend 300 warriors died in the battle and the king put great monuments on their graves. And Merlin the wizard of Arthur and a great hero of British legends with the use of magic put these stones that were carried from Ireland and before getting to Ireland they were located in Africa.
It may sound strange but the theory that looks like truth is the theory about the aliens that built Stonehenge. Of course it may seem strange and fantastic but there are a lot of arguments that make us believe this theory. First of all in the period from the year 3000 till the year 1500 BC a lot of mysterious constructions appeared in Europe and especially in British Isles. These constructions were not houses or temples but stones that were located in the form of some geometric figures (in the majority of cases - circles).
But 25 years ago English explorer gave one more theory, according to which Stonehenge is a temple of the Sun and ancient astronomic observatory and people used this observatory to tell the days of eclipse of the Moon and the Sun. This theory is proved by the fact that the stone arch where the sun appears the day of summer solstice is bigger than the other arches. In such a way those who built Stonehenge accentuated high-energetic days.
But in spite of all theories Stonehenge is a mystery of out ancient history.
